  • Europac:- Barclays CDO's

Just had Schif on, they want me to look at buying into CDO's (no idea about them).
The big ones seems to be Barclays bank of Delaware offering cert of deposit (due 2019) linked to the performance basket of commodity indices....

Sounds good, but here in Blighty the VERY same bank ran a share prices/intrest account scam where if you invested £20,000 in 1992 you got back in 2012.............£20,000........you made ZERO profit & they made LOTS of charges to "run" the account.

Certificates of deposit pay what now? one percent? two? Why would you ever consider doing that? You can buy Brazilian government bonds right now today for 10%. As of today you can get a Spanish government bond for about 6% There are probably a dozen better deals out there.
