You're swimming against the ideological tide. Venezuela is way too independent under Chavez or any other nationalist leader. The Monroe Doctrine didn't stop at the South American border

Loved the ABC News guy getting hot about the people getting FREE Health care, FREE EDUCATION, Lots of other stuff.........then he sez "..in other news the price of Gas is up 15 c this week..."

Like there is a link between the 2.........look Yank, if you don't like it buy a VW Golf, not a SUV!

We have private media as well. You can't tell me that the conflict of interest formed by political advertising money going mainly to the major media outlets has no impact. And that is a fairly subtle influence. Threats of loss of license are not so subtle.

For instance in the US- televised debates widely reject any candidate without sufficient funds to buy a lot of TV airtime. Hence almost all the time there is only debate between the favored R and D candidates. From a consumer point of view a duopoly seldom works out any better than a monopoly. Real competition needs an open market and the real possibility that a corrupt entity fails entirely.

It may well be that Chavez doesn't control Venezuela media - or he may. The fact that the ownership of the stations is private and that the viewership is large doesn't convince me. So, do the private media sources support an opposition candidate? What % of the time?

Such delicate parsing seems unwarranted in a state where the US has already attempted one coup of the elected president.

Robertson has made controversial statements in the past. In October 2003, he suggested that the State Department be blown up with a nuclear device. He has also said that feminism encourages women to "kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.
I admit I'm intrigued by this witchcraft practicing lesbian army out to destroy capitalism.

Is that why we are spreading capitalism? I guess turning our enemies into capitalists works like a colored smoke bomb to light up a target for our most potent weapon.
