If Obama had been firmer, Iran would have stopped their nuclear program. The irony is that Iran nukes would not be used on Israel, surely they don't want to destroy Palestine or Jerusalem.

Iran hasn't attacked another country since 1798!!! This is all about oil and petro dollars and has nothing to do with nuclear weapons.

Well, that and the little threat to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Tiny detail I suppose. The guy is President of Iran, not some crackpot ranting on a street corner. As such, his words have consequences.

Now that said, I pretty much agree with you. But no one had flown airliners into buildings on purpose until 9/11 either. So if its one thing we've learned in recent times, its how crazy and unpredictable things over there can get. I think it is asking a lot of Israel to simply take one on the chin, even if the chances are slim. The USA has fought at least two wars on the slim chance we might have another few airliners crash, or a conventional bomb go off in one of our cities. Imagine the political pressure on Israel when in the crosshairs of a potential nuke. I can see their side too.

The worldwide Jewish population is very small, and Israel is a very small country that only a few nuclear weapons could destroy. They have a very small amount of time if weapons are used against. If your ethnicity had the same characteristics, and a madman had almost destroyed a great portion of your members, how would you react? Especially if another madman had stated that they will destroy you as a people?

He is really a figure head their without a whole lot of power. Notice how back in the Bush era we inflamed the rhetoric right before the Iranian election so a hard line conservative would be elected in Iran and help with the propaganda war.

Also, our 16 intelligence agencies, who did by the way warn us of the likelyhood of an airliner attack, don't see much going in Iran in regards to the nuclear threat. Much like Saddam's "weapons of mass destruction". Perhaps Colin Powell can debrief us again on Iran to help get things ginned up for you.

Don't confuse reasons of going to war with how it's being sold to the masses. If that were the real reason, AQ could have been taken out in Afghanistan without needing to invade the country (limited strikes on the AQ camps). Further more, Saudi Arabia would have been a more likely target for war than Iraq for the reasons you stated.

This article is laughable. Syria's economy hardly exists but Assad still hangs on.

These dudes won't go down until you take them out.

Once Iran gets the bomb, Israel is virtually finished.

Of course, there's still one life line - that is if Israel is willing to defect to Russia and China's side. The defection of Israel will surely shift the balance of power out of the US.

I tend to doubt this.

#1: Nuking Israel would destroy Jerusalem and the Dome of the Rock, which is sacred to Muslims.

#2: If Israel is nuked, within a few minutes both Mecca and Medina would be molten glass.

Of course, there's still one life line - that is if Israel is willing to defect to Russia and China's side. The defection of Israel will surely shift the balance of power out of the US.

Israel recently discovered gas fields off its coast that could prove very interesting to Russia in terms of economic and geopolitical strategy. If Israel starts selling to Europe, then Russia loses some of its power over the region.

Do you think the clerics and politicians really care about religion? What they want is power. I read that Taliban clerics had 10-20 wives.

Who is the real enemy? Definitely not Israel. Sept 11 didn't happen in Israel.

Israel has the strongest military in the Middle East. Without Israel, the US will have trouble dominating the Middle East.

Anyway, the US is in long term decline, it is only a matter of time, be it next year or 10 year's time.
