  • The Koch Brothers Strike Back

An activist group funded by the billionaire Koch brothers is planning a rally in New York on Thursday to "stand up to Occupy Wall Street extremists".

Americans for Prosperity will gather at the Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan to demonstrate against Occupy protesters and Barack Obama's handling of the economy.

"The Occupy Wall Street crowd is nothing but a fringe element of malcontents bent on mayhem and destruction," said Steve Lonegan, Americans for Prosperity's New Jersey state director.

"These are people who despise free enterprise. They are not attacking Wall Street. They are attacking the very freedoms that everyday Americans cherish to pursue their own dreams and succeed."

Lonegan added that it was "time that someone stood up to the Occupy Wall Street mob".

The rally, announced on Wednesday, is part of Americans for Prosperity's "Failing Agenda" bus tour across the US.

    Battle of the extremists.

Is it too much to ask that massive fraud be prosecuted with even 1/4 the zeal of petty fraud?

The Koch brothers are the very picture of the evil corporate overlord. They are essentially what you would see depicted in an 80s dystopian film. RoboCop would shoot these dudes.

The Kochs don't like rabble crapping in the park, but they sure do like a thousand wage slaves per toilet.

The Koch brothers are hardly the monsters they are portrayed as by drooling idiots. They donate to some groups that have some dangerous (economically speaking) ideas, but for the most part they are a huge benefit to the political discussion in this country. Michael Moore, while not nearly as influential, has done far more damage to the standards of living for Americans. The Koch brothers, on the other hand, have largely been a net benefactor for all our standards of living.

It is already a dystopian world when liberty is "extremist."

Michael Moore is like a squashed bug compared to David and Charles. The Koch brothers have several monopolies, wield unprecedented political influence, and basically don't give a shit about America. They are as out there as their father who had a huge founding role in the John Birch Society.

"The biggest deterrent to an energy plan in America is Koch Industries," Pickens says. "They do not want an energy plan for America because they have the cheapest natural gas price they've ever had, and they're in the fertilizer business and they're in the chemical business. So their margins are huge."

If liberty and aristocracy were one and the same, there would have been nothing for Smith and Locke to write about. Or have we so soon forgotten Sir Robert Filmer, and the antithesis upon which the United States was founded?
