Cancer or not, I'd smoke 'em if I had 'em. This just provides further incentive. In all seriousness, it is amazing how something of medical value, like marijuana, is illegal while alcohol is not.

      Alcoholic beverages have medical value.

I'm not convinced marijuana stops cancer.
Perhaps it just removes its motivation and makes it easily distracted.

Moldy cheese stops bacterial growth. It probably doesn't work too well if you suck on burning cheese, though.

I'm pretty sure the method of delivery will make a difference, and the article mentioned a particular compound derived from the plant.

In a nation that requires 3000 pages of text to define an income tax I have little hope that the legal climate will make much scientific sense.

Prior studies have suggested that smoking Marijuana inhibits lung cancer which suggests why it can be full of carcinogens and yet not cause cancer at any appreciable rate. So perhaps burning it doesn't harm the therapeutic properties. However, there is a question of whether the therapeutic compounds cross from the lungs into the bloodstream, and if they do, do they cross the blood/brain barrier.

Does HuffPo qualify as a credible source? Given their army of unpaid volunteers, corporate astroturfers, and what not?
