Re: John Bussey writing in the WSJ calls out the Shale Gas Revolution Myth
Yes it could. I am not sure if it is you who mentioned this but bad cement jobs of the casing could be the mechanism of contamination of water zones and not soly the frac jobs. This could certainly be one mechanism or the frac job busts the cement job in the well could be another scenario!!! Any way you cut it, if the people are complaining then there is a problem and it must be hell being ignored by multinational corporations when you are just a Joe Shmow from Pokipsy.
Wish I could fairly comment on this but I too far from this issue. I am at the wellhead. I have no doubt in my mind though that Joe Shmow is the one that needs to do the proving. Even then he will have a hell of a fight to be compensated.
It is sort of like the Tobacco companies in the past. United they fought every case in court against them to the death or with a buy out but would do everything possible never to allow a loss if possible. They succeeded for a long long time but then the truth came out.
If this is the case, then the drilling for water itself would cause leakage between zones.
However, I have yet to see a single instance of fracking chemicals themselves actually being detected - every single case to date has been NG.
