I'll see your Telegraph and raise you a Chicago Tribune. Who knows what is actually going on behind the scenes at any given point in time?

A decent indicator Mike, that you may want to smoke em if got em, may be if you come across a quote like this one from the editorial article in the July 1941 Fortune Magazine.

“Our first act must be to give up the very basis of our civilization. Our prices must be controlled, our economic incentives must be taxed, our materials must be subjected to priorities, our property and our scientific inventions must be put at the disposal of the state. We surrender these liberties temporarily, but surrender them we must.”

A good reminder, Bundi. The hyperbole may seem big now, but it still has a way to go.

Wrong Metaphor. I keep thinking its more like 911 when Bush was flying around the country not sure where to land or what to say. The leaders of the world keep flying around and land once in a while making a pronouncement but saying nothing but platitudes. We aren't sinking and won't sink but they are running out of platitudes and fuel. One of these times there will be no one at the airport to greet them and they will just be regular people wondering how they will pay the rent, educate their kids, and what they can afford to buy to eat. Our great tragedy is that we ever wasted our time paying attention to them in the first place.

            +1.

By the way, the "system" is NOT "broken". It is woking precisely as intended, and there is ample evidence to support this current trajectory.

Reggie- That was the most interesting and though provoking link I have read in years. Thank you.
