The sheer financial cost of this event, coupled with the emotional crazyness path of 'war' we have pursued, will forever overshadow those lost that day.

The Horror, my Father rang me at work & told me to watch it........i saw it on the little TV i had in the office.....both of us were stunned that the local goverment didn't seem to know how dangerous the dust was........both he & i worked in Architectual engineering & we both knew the date the buildings were built.....it was a GET THE F*CK OUT OF THERE.......NOW!

Mind you, Mossad got some great footage i hear from their agents who were filming from a roof top across the river....giving each other high fives everytime a plane struck a building, shame they missed WT7 falling by itself...........

The people that oversaw the rescue and clean-up efforts need to have their asses lit on fire for letting people work in those conditions. Rudy Giuliani definitely has blood on his hands for his inaction in that regard. Even without materials like asbestos, you still have to worry about silicates causing silicosis. And silicosis is just as bad as mesothelioma.

I'm not a physicist, engineer, architect or mathematician. I find the following observations about the collapst of the WTC buildings _very_ interesting, but don't have the background to know it's correct or if it's leaving out contradictory data. Would appreciate opinions from the smart people here:

well, given the amount of money we have spent on the 'war on terror' compared to the 'investment' Bin Laden made, and given the massive erosion of our civil liberties uner the Patriot Act and the NDAA, coupled with airport gropings, the militarization of local police forces, the massive expansion of the NSA to capture (illegally) everything that runs across the net... welll, yeah, I think he won.

Quite will to say that WTC 1 & WTC2 were taken down by the planes, the MEGA impact forces must have caused massive structural damage.....the fires would do the rest. Remember the heat only had to soften the steel, not (as some claim melt it).

WT7 on the other hand i have major issunes with:-

Not subject to a plane strike
was said to have hit by parts of the falling WTC1/2...i saw no sign of that
Did have a fire on half of one floor that the spriker systerm strangly failed

For me watching the building blow (not collaspe) from the centre & Silverman saying they decied to "Pull it" tends to lead me to think it was blown......

Hey shiny. Good question.

The article is junk science. It presupposes one way of thinking about the collapse, which has inherent flaws, and ignores many factors that would suggest other mechanisms. Consequently, it is little more than a highly verbose straw-man argument.

The most significant omission comes from assuming that if things can only FALL at a rate dictated by gravity, that the energy of a collision can only move at this same rate. This is nonsense. Vibrational or compressional energy can move through materials at rates limited only by the speed of sound in the material, which in concrete and steel is vastly faster than any gravity-accelerated fall.

So the argument is not really worth considering seriously. The concern being raised simply isn't relavant to the problem.

While we can debate whether Osama Bin Laden won or not, what is 100% clear is that we lost and government won.

I was working at an environmental engineer firm located in downtown NYC at the time. One of my coworkers and quite aware of asbestos and other dust hazards (and toxic smoke from the ongoing fires), was a volunteer fireman and friends of many NYC firemen. I asked him about the approach to perform the rescue work not fully protected.

He said most everyone was aware of the risks but the mindset was not there to go full in with PPE (personal protective equipment) when they were working around the site, at least for the first few days.

Not smart in terms of long term personal health, but the concerns were short term to address an urgent emergency and to work in a way that allowed the most comfort and freedom of movement. Once the sense passed that there were no more surviviors to rescue, a more measured careful approach to PPE was taken.
