Could be more that the Olympics...when immigration agents threaten to strike why would one take the risk of getting caught in all that? I used to live in London for a few years, and about a dozen years ago it was also my favourite transit point coming in and out of the Middle East and North America, but not any more. The constant threats from the British Airways unions put me off and I now go via Frankfurt unless my destination is actually London. Screw your customers a few times and they stop coming back...

      Concur Badjuju...

One reason why I do not want Olympics in India ( other than bad power situation ) is entertainment is not a priority when livelihood needs to improve a lot.

            Hello PC,

I almost wrote on the F1 track.. but pulled it back because of too many topics in one go. I am BIG FAN of F1.. but for India, it isn't ideal. But then what is "ideal" is subjective... Having said that, the track is one of the best I have watched on TV i.e. more variations.

            Cheers.

The cost of the games is 9bn and a lot of that went into infrastructure, its money well spent.

Unlike the four times the amount London Taxpayers pay each year propping up other Uk regions.

How will we know that livelihood has improved enough to then allow entertainment? Is there any country in the world (other than perhaps Qatar) where livelihood is not in need of improvement?
About 30 years ago India hosted the Asian Games (I don't recall seeing New Delhi that clean before or after :-) ) And little while back it hosted the Commonwealth Games (although that seemed a bit of a fiasco in planning). Were those bad things to do? Would you ban Bollywood too (on the basis it is a form of entertainment)?
                  I'm just curious...

Interesting.......I didn't know that about BA.

I'm only in Europe on average about once a year or every other year.

The last big bruhaha I vaguely recall was the timing of Air France union strike action....I think it was around the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

I wouldn't go near the Olympics.....ever......nor would most folks I've been talking to about it.

Happy to watch.....just not in person.
