LOL. Moscow ain't London. Just like Dubai ain't NY. No matter how tall their buildings are.

There's always going to be a place for globally iconic public buildings...because there are so few of them, and so few places where one can really create such an icon. NY, London, maybe Paris. That's about it. Put the Empire State Building in L.A. Would it have the same reputation and recognition? How about the Eiffel Tower placed in Madrid? Or gawd forbid, Moscow? Doesn't really work, does it. Stick "The Shard" in Frankfurt, or Rome. Would anybody notice?

The Shard has the singular advantage of being in London, and therefore might some day join the ranks of Tower Bridge, Westminster and Buckingham Palace as one of the truly unique bits of architecture in a city with more than its fair share already...only time will tell.
