Re: Turkey to rob America of her (Iraq) oil?
Thanks Lukester, it is a definite improvement from misbegotten monkey who should have been a cat to simian cousin of George Burn, I have officially arrived.
While it would be nice to have some sort of multilateral agreement between the Kurds, Iraq and Turkey. Multilateral bargain's aren't Turkey's strong suit. I thinkTurkey would be satisfied if the Kurd stopped doing cross border attacks, and the Iraq govt promised that there would never be Kurdish autonomy. That might keep the situation in some semblance of peaceful. I think it would be unstable over the long run, one would also have to have a very strong central govt in Iraq to enforce it. While does not seem likely in the near future, a Turkish invasion of northern Iraq might just unify Iraq enough for them to get the act together. Then again it could cause it to immediately implode. To many possible ends to see clearly which one is likely.
It is the unhappiness of the Kurds that Turkey is most worried about, One might suggest that the Turks stop oppressing and shooting them which might improve moral of the Turkish Kurds a little. Then again they are viewed by Turkey as a threat so that it seem will not happen.
