  • Would you join the Revoultion?

Was watching a film about the Black Panters last night, one guy said something " They trap middleclass with debt, the poor with drugs..."

I did some thinking into the early hours, would i risk my wealth (such as it is) my freedom (such as it is) & my Life to stand with my fellow man/woman in a revoultion agaisnt "They"?.........would you?

No I wouldn't join, because any revolution that included the Black Panthers against "They" would likely consider white me as one of "They"...

"[New Black Panther Party Chief of Staff] Michelle [Williams] said during that interview, "Let me tell you, the things that's about to happen, to these honkeys, these crackers, these pigs, these pink people, these ---- people. It has been long overdue. My prize right now this evening ... is gonna be the bounty, the arrest, dead or alive, for George Zimmerman. You feel me?""

I would join if I was offered a position in the revolutionaries' security apparatus with the rank of at least major. I would also want to be supplied with free jackboots. Ones with good quality leather. Black, of course, with thick heels for testicle crushing. Also: 4 weeks vacation, a 5% match on my 401K and quality health insurance.

I talk of the "Old" Black Panters, not the "New" (FBI funded) version.

With respect Mike, do you seriously think this is the forum for support for an explicitly communist organization? The people who read this site tend to white, rich and part of the establishment. It would be a rare bird who would turn his back on all that. Moreover the Black Panthers on the whole where a crazy bunch of guys. Eldridge Cleaver was famous for writing a book about how he raped a white woman. The ideology of the panthers revolved around going out in a pine box. In a demented effort to subscribe to Maoism they took Mao's advice to "Serve The People" literally and opened a soup kitchen.

The Panthers managed to "Mao Mao" the establishment primarily though their "revolutionary" refusal to take money from the Feds. This was in contrast to literally hundreds of so called "Pork Chop" Black Nationalist groups. That and their gun fetish lead to their being exterminated by the government. If you have ever seen the film The Gauntlet, there is a scene in it where the police shoot so many bullets into a house that it collapses. This is based on a true story. You would think that the literal extermination of the group would be an occasion for national soul searching, but au contraire America loves it some nigger shooting.

Some day I hope that a righteous populous will exact justice on every venal, corrupt banker and politician. When the evil men and woman are put to the sword I will rejoice. But I believe I am in the distinct minority here.

Oh, And by the way, news goes in the news section. Rants go in the rant-and-rave section.

Uhhh... if what "They" are doing is trying to convince me to take out loans and/or buy drugs, I don't think that calls for "revolution". That is not repression... that is called a free market. I'm free to not participate in "Their" loans or drug sales. I'd be more likely to join a revolution if "They" took away freedoms, not when "They" give me more.

Re: Would you join the Revoultion?

Interesting new article on Social Media's role in Unconventional Warfare/Revolution/Regime Change:

                    http://www.soc.mil/swcs/swmag/archiv...ediaAndUW.html

Personally, I'm of the belief that the best way to achieve fundamental change in broken western systems is through legal and peaceful protest using unconventional/non-traditional means and media.

If entrenched interests possess considerable monopolistic influence and control over traditional political parties and media then avoid direct confrontation with them and attempt to disrupt them through new media and a decentralized organization with a clear/concise/popular objective and mission statement as it's harder to fight an idea than a traditional personality led hierarchy.

But a decentralized political disrupter still runs the risk of being "hijacked" and defeated/deflected/marginalized/re-shaped as we've seen with the Tea Party.

So control measures would have to be taken to try to mitigate this...maybe something along the lines of a single issue organization rigidly adhering to an idea that is more idea than personality led org to disrupt the status quo ands reduce the opportunity for an effective counter strategy.

All just speculation on my part.....but I am keen to see how Social Media meets politics version 2.0 mashups develop in the period ahead.

I think there would be a considerable minority of the population who would be keen to participate(at least online if not offline) in achieving some form of fundamental change in a legal and peaceful manner. But what do the biggest chunk of people most likely to participate wish to see changed?

However, I would have less than zero desire to align with the likes of the New Black Panthers or any other organization that would be attempting to appeal to the small fraction of society wishing to achieve change through illegal or unacceptable means.

I think they are more part of the problem than the solution.

But it's worth discussing the point that some will foolishly choose illegal and inappropriate means to do so as seen in the past during challenging times.

I believe it's best to avoid being lumped in with such groups.

                    Just my opinion.

Fellow man and woman? Depends, what group? Nationality? Socio-economic dynamic? Where? When? How? What revolution? What ideals? Are are "they". Write like an adult and be specific.

I almost didn't click on this thread. Then I realized I am no doubt already in the database of the beast. Is that a Hellfire missile I hear? Oh right, they are supersonic. You won't hear, or likely feel anything. If it gets to the point that revolution is needed to bring about change it will probably be too late, unless you happen to command a division or three. Double Plus Good! Long live our Dear Leader!

Seriously, if the states would pass a Constitutional Amendment enforcing term limits, full and immediate financial disclosure by all politicians, and nullifying Executive Orders we would never need a revolution.
