  • 12 year old girl economist - Yep, she gets it!

My first thought when watching this was ... "Is this EJ's daughter?!"

I used to think that the reason my friends and family didn't get it was because economics is just too complicated, but this video changed my mind. Look even a 12 year old gets it. So ... What's everybody else's excuse?

    Warning: Network Engineer talking economics!

sounds more like ron pauls niece....

brilliant essay tho - like the part where she mentions 'the money changers'

obviously the implication of this biblical reference has escaped our bought-off congress (parliament)

when even the most casual examination of how the retail banking world is functioning - never mind how 'investment banking' has so thourougly corrupted both the .gov as well as 'society' (leading the sheeple to believe that debt is somehow desirable, glamorous even - when we are bombarded daily with thousands of subtle hints such as "dont leave home without it", "whats in your wallet", "going to the olympics? dont take brand-x with you", "get 5% cash back"

tell me now that what these operations is doing is anything but 'coining money', something that the US Constitution said rather explicitly was something only the treasury could do

the 'money changers' have succeeded in superceeding the precise intent of that provision, that even 236 years ago was so plainly evident that it was codified - the 'money changers' have in fact caused the price of virtually everything we buy to increase by the vig they collect on every transaction - especially eggregious is at the supermarket, where as an industry they tell us they make appx 2% on gross volume?

how is it then that we arent paying 2% MORE, across the board, for food when they accept credit cards?

if this isnt 'coining money' i dont know what would be:

i say that ANY BUSINESS THAT ACCEPTS CREDIT CARDS SHOULD BE REQUIRED BY LAW TO OFFER A DISCOUNT FOR PAYING WITH CASH OR CHECK.

Actually, if I use my BAC VISA card at a grocery or for gas I get either 2% or 3% cash back so I do use it. I also use Discover for most other things and get 1% (or more) back. Since I shop at Lowes Hardware often, I also have a Lowes card where I get a 5% discount.

Entertaining, but quite clearly written by her father, who exhibits a Ron Paul-like (mis)understanding of basic economic principles: "Oh my GOD! Look at the banks, creating money out of thin air!" The infatuation with the fundamental premise of fractional reserve banking is beyond me, when the banks have committed so many actual transgressions.

me too (tho i take airline miles, is a better return in my local sitch) - if one doesnt, one gets to pay for it anyway, is my point.

they've succeeded in corrupting us into playing their game...

would i NOT use them if there was a 'reward' to pay with cash/check?
            you betcha.

it wont be long now before the banks skim 2-5% off the top of the entire economy, for doing nothing - something that they tried to warn us about, 236 years ago... (hell.. in 'the book', they tried to warn us a couple thousand years ago)

and just look at how things have worked out - the 'credit card' congress uses is now, costs what - the 4th or 5th largest line item of the fed 'budget' ??? (and too bad we aint had one of them in over 4 years now...)

and then.... what happens when ZIRP gets overrun ?

ok - then why is it that the .gov has to 'borrow' money, rather than simply adding it when receipts run short and REMOVING IT when revenues are adjusted to meet expenses?

the problem seems to be that its never 'removed' and expenses are never adjusted to meet revenue = a free lunch that then steals right out from under us that which was created-fought/died-for over the past 400 years - in the span of less than 99 years, they (the political class and their masters in lower manhattan) have stolen our birthright and are back-charging us for what should rightfully be OURS

then we have the political class' apologists tell us that "democracy is messy"

to that i say: its supposed to be a republic, that is, "if we can keep it"

sorry - its that ole NH yankee ooozing out of me today...

Dude its Passover for once leave my tribe out of the "money changer" reference hahahah.

Just playing I got it. I mean it wasnt my ancestors fault that the Christians had a law prohibiting the charging of "interest." They were like hey! the Jews are damned to hell anyway we might as well employ them to LEND money at interest so that the Kings and Queens could run their chivalrous nations .

If you are a business accepting credit cards, it's in your Merchant Services agreement that you cannot give a discount for cash or checks, or increase your prices for credit card payments. If they catch you doing that they can revoke your contract.

Those "cash back" cards are forcing businesses to raise prices, putting businesses that can't raise their prices out of business (like mine). Many people are surprised to learn that the "cash back" doesn't come from Visa, MC, etc.; it's paid by the merchant, who doesn't have a say in whether or not they will accept those cards.

The merchant pays a percentage of their sales to their Merchant Servicer, plus transaction fees, authorization fees, batch fees... fees out the wazoo. Then a month or two later, more money is debited from their account to pay for the "cash back" that was given to their customers.

I don't use my "cash back" card when purchasing from small mom-and-pop businesses, little family-owned restaurants, etc. They're having a hard enough time staying in business already.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

didnt know any particular tribe had a monopoly on 'the game' ?
always thot it was the dudes who scraped the sides of the coins in them days - rilling, an all that, to fix the problem

as we can see now, rilling no longer works - even having codified the terms for 'coining money' in the constitution didnt work - or rather, used to work - up till 1913 anyway...

but then, thats what happens when the .gov is run by lawyers...
most of whom apparently cant even be bothered to even read the laws they pass for The Rest of US

i mean hey - if a 12yearold can come up with/comprehend this stuff (even if daddy helped) - why cant they?

                      i understand that ms shiny!
still wonder how that provision is even legal under anti-trust regulations or something (not any kind of expert on this)

and we're all paying for these schemes - you, me, and every other small biz - and twice, if we dont use em -
big biz just passes it on thru - esp the supermarkets.

Dont you know the origin of Money Changers? Its in reference to Jews.

The only time Jesus ever showed a violent nature was when he walked into the synagogue and caught the other Jews exchanging money aka lending. This is when he went berserk and threw the "money changers" out and wrecked the place.
