  • how to buy currencies

there have been occasional questions about how to buy non-dollar currencies [for u.s. based investors] outside of the futures market. somewhere in my readings this weekend i came across the following:

FXE is an ETF that represents the euro. In the very near future (it was supposed to be this week), we will see the following:

    FXA Australian Dollar
    FXB British Pound
    FXC Canadian Dollar
    FXM Mexican Peso
    FXS Swedish Krona
    FXF Swiss Franc

    Which currencies to buy?

Good information jk about how to get into the currencies.

On safehaven.com each Sunday, a fellow, Volkmar Hable, who has a PhD in what I do not know, posts his weekly comments about what various markets may do as he sees things. You can subscribe to his postings and you'll get them as a PDF attachment to an email. I got mine this morning and a few minutes ago, his post was not yet on safehaven.

I like this guy, not because he says he is up 180% since 1/1/06, but because he has nice charts with clear arrows noting where he thinks the markets are going. He also follows the EUR-USD and has some distinct feelings about the volatilities of other currencies. He prefers trading the Euro, and I think the Euro comprises over 50% of the US$ Index.

I think his comments are worth the time to read about the $, though I place some worth on all he writes.

      more charts

thanks for the tip, jim. i went over and took a look. you might want to check out the link below. it's a series of public charts maintained over at stockchars.com. there are a lot of indiv stock charts mixed in which don't interest me much, but the guy whose charts these are says he uses them to follow the momentum players- they're the ibd "hot" stocks.

i've been doing a lot of reading this weekend and the only thing it's produced is anxiety! [that and, on faber's analysis, i might lighten up on my czj, which i added to not long ago]. i have this fasten-your-seatbelt feeling, but i'm a long-term worrier.

        Public charts at stockcharts.com

One thing seems clear to me about a value of iTulip, and that is more minds are a whole lot better than my one brain. The site you referenced jk is a nice one, but I think there were 18 pages of his charts. I keep thinking I am compulsive, but the more I see, the more I think I might be normal--too bad I cannot get you to check me out professionally.

Worried is a good sign, ignrance is bliss. You are not ignorant, worry is the burden of knowledge.
