  • Insurrection

According to reporters at Camp Leatherneck, the Marines were waiting to hear Panetta's speech when they were abruptly told by their commander to get up, leave their weapons, including M16 and M-4 automatic rifles and 9 mm pistols, outside and return unarmed.
"All I know is I was told to get the weapons out," Sergeant Major Brandon Hall told The New York Times. Asked why, he replied, "Somebody got itchy, that's all I've got to say. Somebody got itchy; we just adjust."
Hall said he was acting on orders from superiors, the Times reported.

Hmm, why would one go armed to the teeth to something like a speech anyway?
I suppose now that the Pentagon has bankrupted itself and the nation, it may be dawning on some that they are not going to get the benefits they were promised. This is so sad.
When the Cold War ended, the US military needed to be cut by half or else the Cold War would wind up bankrupting TWO empires. They doubled it. Now they need to cut it by 3/4. Guess where the cuts are going to come from. And that is even assuming the dollar declines slowly and does not blow up suddenly.

Pat Buchanan was saying this in 1992. He also said that with the disintigration of the Soviet Union there was only one reason for NATO's continued existence: to bill the United States for the defense of Western Europe. He pointed out that the two greatest generals who became President (Washington and Eisenhower) opposed our entrapment by open-ended treaties that allowed us to be pulled into wars having little to do with defending our vital national interests.

No one listened to him because he was a "racist" and an "Anti-Semite".

and NOTHING gets more negative attention then them 2... cept when they're opposing each other - as in: if yer against the current occupant, you must be a racist, but when he throws israel under the bus, he gets a pass?

its too bad pat gets marginilized by the lametream media - he's the only one who seems to get it these daze - meanwhile the political class rallys round the military industrial complex as its still the only way they have to command the .gov's largesse, or 'bring home the bacon', since even with the best efforts of the liberals/dems to build up the welfare/nanny/regulatory state (cept for the parts that apply to lower manhattan), they still run second to bombers, boats and bullets - despite or would that be in spite of their protests to the contrary, and me doth think they protesteth to mucheth.... but as long as they keep getting the billions from daddy warbucks, well... lets just say that gives em more to spend on the welfare class which brings home the votes and the .mil contractors, which brings in the campaign contributions = one neat/disgustingly dirty little circle of vice
