What is with all this celebrity worship anyway? I used to tell my employees who read People and Us and similar drivel they were wasting their money caring about what all these rodeo clowns did, as the clowns could care less about their fans most of the time.
So Whitney blew herself up. She won't be the first, she won't be the last. We pay attention because she had a great voice and was pretty. There are plenty of talented people out there who will never get as much luck/opportunity/whatever as she did, and they will not blow themselves up. There are plenty out there with no gifts in life who will. It's all part of the way the world rolls.
People who are self-destructive will generally accomplish just what they want int he end.
