Overpriced tat that doesn't have an IRS like Focus or Golf.....The only market that matters in the UK now is know as "Green"............Ford just tested the Focus 1 litre 3 cyninder Ecoboost. Large car but very low CO2 (114 co2's).......This motor will quickly make up the bulk of UK fleet sales, £17,000 ish is a fair price for what it has (cheaper models on the way).
VW & Nissan have 3 pot engines or are very close to production....Renualt & BMW also............NO sign of GM in this critical market. Worse still GM MASTERPLAN of offering a refreched 1.7 turbo diesel (ye old Is-zu lump) blew up in their face when they DEMANDED £21,000 for it!
More that a Golf !!!!!
Hyundia (whom just started selling cars to the local police) are offering the brand new i30 with a 1.6 T/D for £16,500..............& as i said my local police (who beat covers the GM plant) have just thrown in the towel after 40 years of "Local".
It would now appear that we are at the end almost, the latest plan is for Opel to become a sort of Audi by charge-ing MEGA money for Active Dampers & heat seeking headlamps etc....
This is because GM have found that their retail customers are NOT will to pay List (Yes they try to force LIST) for what is a Fleet car (80% of them are fleet) that is not very good & a VW is worth more in trade in after 3-5 years. I put their changes of getting Audi money for Chevy muck @ Zero............VW spent 40 years making Audi............. Audi !
After driving Saab into the Wall Opel/Vauxhall can't be long now.
