Hey everyone, being a fan of sailing (and currently bored) just thought I'd chime in.

Although I like the idea of a return to sail, having sails made of solar panels shows that either:
A) the designer has no understanding of either sails or solar panels. Any such design well have to include so many compromises that either the sails or the panels (or both) will be useless.
B) The sail/solar combination is to give the appearance of "Futuristic Thinking" but is not meant to be practical. As this is to be a Royal Yacht for a democratic country, I suspect this is the motivation for it. A 21st century example of the Easter Island mentality

As with any class society that transfers wealth ever upwards, you will pay for this by resources for the average person being dedicated to a privileged few. And giving a few "disadvantaged youths" a chance to gock at the queen only helps to cement this idea.

When will they/we rise up? When people always rise up; when they get hungry. At least in the past it was "let them eat cake". Our modern society has become so detached, TPTB don't even see what's wrong with letting them eat solar panel sails
