If you want to fight inflation, eg low inflation think of rates at +10 % for the next few years!

I saw that on bloomberg I think, I was as shocked as you Mega , That Greenspan of all people would call for 10% interest rates, especially given the turmoil in the credit markets. Wonder what he knows??

That will be the long term t-bill rate, set by investor demand of T-Bills, not by the Federal Reserve; after the dollar is so devalued from the re-inflation required dig ourselves out of the housing bubble burst.

Unless of course the PTB just feel like cranking the interest rates up sky-high and buying up assets cheap from newly-bankrupt people and businesses.
