I want to know if the US actually has any of the purported tons that is claimed to be safely tucked away!

I'm sure they still have a sizable amount of gold there, but i would be surprised if it is later discovered that they only have 6000 - 7000 tonnes instead of 8000 tonnes

Well, that would be nice...maybe this time the Government won't confiscate it from us. However, I won't hold my breath.

If they do have the gold, why don't they do a verifiable audit by a trusted third party and put the suspicions to rest. But the more important question is how many times is each ounce of gold allocated. For instance, hypothetically speaking, if each ounce is re-hypothecated a dozen times then they're short eleven ounces for each ounce they're holding.

It's also interesting that for people who talk down gold at every opportunity they are very secretive and sticky-fingered about their "own" gold.

If you decide to hold gold it's a good idea to hold it physical and hold it in secret. Just speaking hypothetically, of course, I don't have the means to invest myself.

the Golden Rule for individuals. The inverse may be true for countries, especially if they don't have what they claim (or have more!).
