Everyone agrees that cuts must be made.....to other people!

My answer is to push the Greeks OUT of the Euro, then they have to float their own money..........which will sink like a stone & watch in horror as the Greeks can afford to buy a loaf of bread.
. Then Germany can turn to the rest of the "Piigs" & say........If you want some of this fine!....if not then bend over!

Jesus Mike, you remind me of a compass on one of the poles: constantly spinning, always pointing in some direction, but to no purpose despite the clearly marked points.

Greece is undeniably f-ed up, but compared to what? From my understanding they have a higher personal savings rate than Germans (and one can only imagine how bad they make the Anglo-world look with our recent negative savings rates.) A nurse in Greece makes about $700 a month. Why would one revel in these people's suffering? I understand how you revile the morons around you in the UK too shallow to wonder whether it's really such a good idea go into debt "buying" the trappings of success: the madhouse consumption of our - recent - gilded age. But it disturbs me to see this couched in north / south europe terms.

Why not apply this same disdain to the Icelanders or Irish?
