EJ has become the intellectuals' Gerald Celente.

This is something which has been causing me concern for quite a while. I wonder if it is possible with all of the sophisticated tools at the disposal of world gvernments for this to continue almost indefinitely. The media is almost totally controlled by a few large outlets, there has been talk in the US of government having far more control over the internet and financial bloggers and there seems to be virtually no Bond/stockmarket market concern with what is going on. From an economics analaysis perspective this whole thing stinks and yet there is virtually 100% acceptance of it.

            LOL.

I remember when FRED used to relegate Chris Martenson threads to the "Junk Economics" forum.

When the going gets tough, unite!

Not a surprise for anyone paying attention. As Eric well knows, most aren't.

"Simon Johnson was is there. He was, of course, his usual highly confrontational self. And I asked him a couple of questions, and he was very forthright in his answers".

"And I did meet Bernanke in passing, I shook his hand on the way out the door."

                LOL.

Keep up the strong work, Eric.

                  EJ podcasts in:

But the fact is [gold] has been going up in price every single year, year after year, for ten years, and in fact, the rise has been so consistent that it has, with respect to almost anything else, particularly stocks, has been much less volatile and more consistent with its rise. So this is to me indicative of this overall trend which is, I would describe it as, a dissolution of the US Treasury dollar-based monetary system.
10 years of gold going up is indicative of the dissolution of the US monetary system?

                  Oh, really?

                  LOL.

FRED, could we move this thread to the "Junk Economics" forum?

I think Eric doing very well, when i 1st arrived on Itulip i found his writing very hard to understand because i felt like he was writing a science paper. Now its a bit more mainstream, perhaps Eric now feels that he (& events) have proved his case?

No, what he said was that he bought gold in 2001 at $270 on the theory that the technology bubble represented the start of the process of the U.S. losing its legitimacy as the world's reserve currency issuer, and that as its legitimacy continued to decline, U.S. trade partners would begin to buy gold to hedge their US$ Treasury bond holdings, driving up the gold price.

And that is exactly what happened.

This is translated into Chris Martenson into "We Are Witnessing The Death of the Dollar."

Where and when has EJ ever said "We Are Witnessing The Death of the Dollar"?

otoh, mike, maybe you've learned so much over the years that what used to hard has become easy for you, and ej hasn't changed his style at all.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but I've read the podcast's transcription and, in my opinion, EJ said very little.
