I challenge anybody who voted NO and Never, to actually go see things with their own eyes. The people and signs at the events (at least the one I went to) are not what you see in the media.

Mostly true. Ultimately it is the citizens own fault to a large extent. The average person puts almost no effort whatsoever into ensuring they have a decent government. As with nearly everything in life, you tend to get out what you put in. I guess the people got the government they deserved.

At least the OWS people are putting some effort into the process. My problem is that while some of the supporters have a rational basis and target for their anger, many are just pissed off at rich people. The whole 99% thing in particular just seems like pure class warfare.

would agree there, too much of the usual protester-mentality and some just seem to be there for the 'entertainment' value, while the typical circus atmosphere (complete with the pieced/tatoo'd phreakshow element) simply diffuses and distracts from what the real message/take-away should be: the investment banking industry is corrupt and has hijacked the .gov

and so what we are seeing - in the lamestream media - is just another meme management opportunity - eye can already see plenty of evidence of the message being spun to the benefit of the accused... its hilarious! we even have GS reporting they lost money in Q3 ? HAHAHAHAHAHA..... shur they did.

iTulip's Take on OWS movement - Mining for Memes?

Correct me if I missed it, but what is iTulip's take on the OWS movement? I'm especially interested in how the movement is being shaped and managed using memes (a concept discussed in one of EJ's recent pieces). Who is doing the shaping and who is doing the managing? How organic is the movement, is it legit?

I submit the following curiosities for discussion (note - I don't necessarily endorse all the items below, but they are interesting fodder for memes):Others should feel free to add their own curiosities to the thread.

Thanks guys and I look forward to the discussion.

I did see the long thread on the topic "CHARTS: Here's What The Wall Street Protesters Are So Angry About...", I started this new thread because I'm more interested in the memes and who is pushing/pulling the power. I think the topics in that thread go way beyond the scope of discussion that I'm focused on.
