Does it matter what the companies are doing individually? The point is that the results are continuing to accelerate. How it happens is irrelevant. Humanity has always found a way in the past, and the argument is that there's no reason to believe otherwise of the future.
I'm sure, back in the vacuum tube era, people had all manner of argument regarding why we were about to hit a wall. It's easy to see the wall, it's hard to see past it. If you could see past it, the wall would cease to exist! It looks like there's an impenetrable wall precisely until someone finds a way to penetrate it.
