Understand the cynicism that prevails. But it seems to me that these protests are, at least in part, about reforming the system. I see no reason why one cannot try to start reforming the system by using the avenues already available. If they don't like the candidates they should run their own slate.

I know the above may sound trite, but I really believe that a democratic system where there is widespread participation is sounder than one where the majority of eligible voters have dropped out...and then start protesting against the very system they have ignored.

Here's "their" list of demands. How much backing and air time do you think they're going to get?

I'd say that it is more than likely these people did vote in 2008:

The mainstream media and the alternative media (I include iTulip in the alternative media) as well as the economic and political elite ignore these 'Wall Street protests' at peril. It should be apparent to all iTulipers that this so-called protest movement is an expression of pent-up anger that is is so widespread and diffuse that there can be no central leadership or coherent demands. It really is another manifestation of the same anger that the Tea Party sprang from. There really is a great disparity of economic justice in the US. I am very fearful of the process that is unfolding yet I am drawn to support the Occupy Wall Street protests. As I have said before: "We ain't seen nuttin' yet".....

To answer your question, in part, the Occupy Wall Street protests are going to get a tremendous amount of attention and support from the vast population of people who feel they are getting the short end of the stick. The main stream media will continue to offer up their sports and celebrity pap but the story is starting to get out anyway. From Monday through Friday last week, there was an increasing amount of attention being paid by my co-workers, ranging from the admin people to the OR techs and nurses to include the surgeons and anesthesiologists that I work with. Even my entirely apolititical wife was talking about the protests. Everyone I know is extremely pissed off about the transfer of our wealth to the banking class via our elected representatives. I wouldn't want to be a banker going forward.

I was able to make it down to Wall Street about midday. I had to surrender my laptop and other gear so I may be a bit slow in posting updates, interviews and pictures. So far, it was a very good day and cannot complain about my good fortune. I hope you all see the pictures I posted via twitpic.

Nice. Occupy Wall Street is currently being suppressed by the Singapore media, there's very little mention about it in reports on both the newspapers and TV.

Do keep lookout for this movement to be hijacked by the elites, just like the Tea party was hijacked.(eg. Sen Brown from Massachussetts).
Tea party initially was against Wall street bailout which morphed into anti-unionism, etc....

Who is behind this movement ? anyone providing financial support, from which we can deduce what their aims are ?

                            x2. Perhaps 50% voted?
