How long before CETA of 2011 or 2012 - nostalgia

I was walking in a beautiful sea-side community in Rhode Island, while on vacation, when I walk passed a concrete block engraved with "Built By CETA 1978".

I hadn't thought of CETA in 25 years or longer. CETA - a make work program that put lots of teen agers from lower income families into summer jobs - like washing dishes at summer camps and construction projects.

I wondered how long before Congress decides to recreate CETA to get the economy going?

Well, the wise Women and Men of Congress are a step ahead of me.....

I remember well working at a Summer camp in the early 1980s and the Kitchen crew were referred to as "the CETA workers".

The problem is FIRE has driven up the cost of living wages so high that CETA, unless they're paying double or more minimum wage, simply isn't attractive.

What's the point of a minimum wage job when you have $40,000 in school loans, $100/month cell phone expense, etc? Living at home only can do so much.
