  • Wikipedia bumps USA gold reserves ...

OK - I realize that you can't trust everything you find on Wikipedia, but I went to update a gold reserves chart in a presentation today at ...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_reserve

... and was surprised to see that the USA's reserves had jumped to 9,300 tonnes versus the 8,133.5 that it's been at forever.

I wonder how long that chart's been showing that number?

Perhaps Timothy Geithner thought China's & Pakistan's gold belongs to them

If we go by this: http://www.treasury.gov/resource-cen.../07012011.aspx the 8133.5 ton figure appears correct as of 7/1/11 (assuming troy ounces and metric tons). However there are a whole lot of articles out there like this one http://money.cnn.com/2011/06/24/news...udit/index.htm quoting the 9300 ton figure.

Thanks for that link pianodoctor. I had mean't to ask in my original post if anybody knew where the 9,300 figure comes from - as I had seen it once or twice before as well. If anybody else finds that figure somewhere - perhaps you could link it here - as I'm curious where it keeps coming from.
