  • Stop The "feeds"! I'm Begging!

is anyone else here annoyed by the "feed" threads that have proliferated? i have the utmost respect for aaron and the work he's done at mortgage lender implode, and now hedge fund implode, but the new "feeds" result in long lists of "threads," each of which consists of one sentence and a link. this clogs up the "new posts" and "guicklinks- today's posts" functions, making them much less user friendly. i sent a msg to fred earlier making this request after the 2:22pm barrage of dozens of feed threads, but just discovered yet another bunch of these posted at 10:30pm. if i'm the only one bothered, so be it. but if you are bothered, please register your complaint.

Yeah me too. I'm half Jim's age. When I'm in my 60's, will I be complaining twice as much?

I tried to do an advanced search for posts since "your last visit" and selected all the categories except the two new feeds. But it won't let me search with the key words field blank. Is there a wildcard character? Thought I could make my own "new posts" search preference that excludes the news feeds. I kinda felt bad about even trying to do this but... ay, caramba. I do pop over to ml-implode from time to time and check the latest.

We've tagged the news item threads that are generated by the ml-implode feed with an ml-implode-feed tag and then we set up the search function to not return threads that contain the tag. That ought to do it.

advanced search won't allow searches without specifying a keyword or user name.

why not set up a single page per day with aaron's stuff. that way it won't list as 37 different threads the way the initial barrage did.

That'd be great, but it ain't how vbulletin's RRS feed system works. It cranks out threads. Still debugging our tagged threads approach. It'll work once we hack the search code. Meanwhile, we're only picking up one thread every six hours.

I look for new posts in the forum using the "new posts" link and it's littered with the implode feed. This feed is a pain in the a.lpha

We've turned it off until we figure out how to control it better.
