This is worth watching. The last time it erupted, there was talk of a repeat event in past history

Can you elaborate on that, Chris?

So far it sounds like this won't disrupt European air travel to the extent the last one did.
Rikke Pedersen, director of the Nordic Volcanological Centre Institute of Sciences, does not expect that the current volcanic eruption in southeast Iceland will last long.

RUV journalist Bogi Agustsson asked Pedersen whether she believes it is likely Grimsvotn will cause the sort of international travel chaos seen last year when Eyjafjallajokull erupted. “No, I doubt that at the moment given the current weather forecast,” She said. “Over the next days the wind direction looks alright for Europe and the ash is going west and north; although we don’t know exactly what will happen in the future.”

Apologies for taking so long to answer; busy setting up a new VPS server for my web pages. Try this:
          "A guide to Iceland's volcanoes

Eruptions at the eastern volcanoes of Grimsvotn and Laki from 1783 to 1785 produced a lava flow which consumed vast swathes of land, blotted out the sun and killed a quarter of the population through poisoning or famine.

          Angry sisters

Eyjafjallajoekull, which is currently filling the sky above northern Europe with ash, is a minor player in Icelandic terms - though its last eruption lasted for more than a year, from December 1821 to January 1823.

The most ominous thing about Eyjafjallajoekull is that its eruptions have historically preceded eruptions by one of Iceland's most feared volcanoes, Katla.

Fortunately, Katla, one of the two so-called Angry Sisters, has shown no sign of unusual activity in 2010."

PARIS — Northern Europe was bracing on Tuesday for air traffic chaos as the ash cloud from the Grimsvotn volcano in Iceland forced flight cancellations across northern Britain and fueled worries that hundreds more could be grounded as the ash spreads.

“About 250 flights have already been canceled, mostly over Scotland” Kyla Evans, a spokeswoman for Eurocontrol, the Brussels-based agency that coordinates air traffic management across the region, said. “We would expect up to 500 flights to be canceled today. But it would very much depend on how the ash cloud moves, it could be many more . . . or less.”

Icelandic greeting to a Nobel President with a message to stay and visit.

Alternate interpretation is "Give me shitty terms on that bank loan and lookout", Iceland style.
