Bon Jovi has been known to raise money for charities around the world through performances, and the band’s leader is a known philanthropist.

Jon Bon Jovi is now stepping up again and lening a hand in opening a homeless shelter in Philadelphia, PA. The shelter is specifically for displaced youths and it’s reported that he donated $3 million via his Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation (JBJSF).

Called the Covenant House Rights of Passage apartments, it will provide temporary housing for 20 homeless youths under the age of 21. Located in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, the Covenant House currently serves more than 500 young people every year through its Crisis Shelter, and will now be able to provide youth with stability as well.

Jon Bon Jovi's next endeavor will combine food and philanthropy: he's set to open a pay-what-you-can restaurant in Red Bank, New Jersey.
The town's board recently approved the venture, which will be housed in an old auto body shop.
No word as to what will be on the menu -- or what the restaurant's name will be.
