I know that this website is by nature contrarian. But all is not lost. That is the point of this thread. There are actions that can be taken. As information is brought into light; at least some of those who act without ethics or regard for the harm they do others will be brought to justice.
Things are not so bad that there is no chance of fixing them. But they will not fix themselves. As with any human endeavor, a watchful eye, strategic mindset, and hard work are required for success.
I would reverse your challenge and ask you whether you can show any consistent empirical evidence of a lack of ethics in those areas. By this, I don't just mean a preponderance of anecdotes. The complexity of human interaction does not allow for such an empirical study.
Ethics must be implemented. The implementation process never ends. There is no defined victory, only constant struggle.
