On April 8th, 2010, BP closed at 58.97. It dropped to a low of $27.02 in late June, due to a minor production problem which has since been resolved. The price has recovered most of the loss, and as I write this it's trading at $46.91, off a little over 20% since last year.

The S & P, on the other hand, has gone from $1186.44 to $1333.51, an increase of 12.4%.

      I don't get how a loss of 20% outstrips a gain of 12.4% by 157.37%.

i bought one batch when it was $38. Was waiting for it to drop to $20 before buying again, but it didn't happen.

When the price was at $34, some analysts said BP will go bankrupt. In comparison, BP today even at $46 is somewhat cheaper after you minus off the risk.

Will it be solar panels and windmills and consequent starvation for everyone? Or will it be drilling and tar sands and atomic power and survival for everyone? You decide.

The question in algebra: solar + wind + hope = 0 ? Or: drilling + atomic power + tar sands + hydro electric dams + natural gas = prosperity ?

Will it be: ecology + bird habitat preservation ? Or will it be a lower cost of living and survival for people?

          You decide.

Yes, I took my brain medication this morning.... Yes, I own BP and never sold it. Yes, I collected all the dividends along the way. Yes, this was and still is a no-brainer to me.
