  • "ka" over with soon ?

im new here, with not nearly the knowledge about this stuff that most of you guys have

what do you think about the 'ka' portion of things ending fairly soon with the Fed and other banks coming to the rescue and inflating away? i mean, if things really are as bad as cramer and all the internet goldbug article writers are making it out to be, the banksters will have little choice but to save the day or risk depression. perhaps this deflationary cycle will only last a relatively short period, with little chance to trade it.

maybe the time to stock up on gold (insert your fav inflation hedge) sooner than thought?

Today wasn't that bad - even without the recovery.

Time will tell if the recovery was bargain hunting or something more sinister - that will be the cue.

        Jesus Metalman -

What are you, one of the four riders of the apocalypse?

Far East markets for the 17th of August look like death riding a black horse.

I got some religion yesterday and and sold every last damn holding. Count me among the believers now.

BTW - check out my iTulip INTERPOL profile on the "SAPIENS" thread.

It appears this little band of misfits is about 100% ahead of every other pundit out there. I've been badly burned, but I'd be burned far worse for not having been reading here.

Based on some moderately accurate tracking I do of the Asian markets, on average after today's close, they are down ~15.5%, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines being off > 20%. Following the runups of the the past few years, these losses don't strike me as major, as long as I'm not the one holding them.

If what EJ has suggested about a coming correction being worse than 1987 I think he said, then we've not seen anything yet, anywhere.

Just how bad was the correction in 1987?

If one was long, it was bad. I don't have time to look up the numbers, and it would probably be more meaningful for memory retention if you looked it up. Try stockcharts.com's long-term historical charts.

Jim, I'd find it more meaningful if you did it for me.

Peak was 2709.50, bottom was 1766.44. 34.8% drop. (It looks like it recovered to previous high in about mid 1989.) And this will be worse? Ouch!

                  Thanks for the link.
