A lot of hope and the futures of many peoples retirements are hinging on SS, a system that had no scientific or empirical evidence of working.

It was destined for failure from the beginning, why cry about it now?
Because it was deliberate calculated move whose ends were known.

I wonder why I didnt' see any suggested solutions that included the repeal of GATT? I can't think of a bigger shot in the arm of the USA's non-FIRE economy. I would think that'd fix a lotta problems.

On a side note, perhaps a litle investigation into John Doerr, partner at KPCB, and his political and foundation relationships would shed some light on why they're releasing such a report framed in the manner that it is. For example, it's no accident that the Sante Fe Institute (where Doerr is a board member) was founded in 1984 with the mission to study Complexity Theory & Complex Systems (ie study of managing & controlling chaos & chaotic systems), not long before the world's institutions begin to fail, exerting chaotic forces throught society.

Funny that KPCB is alse a leader in providing the funding necessary to develop the tech required to manage such chaotic systems, while John is also on the President's Economic Advisory Board helping to create policies that lead to such chaos.
