this is a kick, my SO just happened to be watching the tube a while ago and noticed that the middle player on Jeopardy was IBM's Watson machine?

whoa, huh - guess AI has really come a long way in short time?

Watson will be on Jeopardy! Feb. 14-16. NOVA just had a show on the development of Watson and how they prepared it for Jeopardy! It was very interesting.

yeah it was.... ole watson had it tied up; 5000 to 5000 with the Number One Winner (human) of ALL TIME , as i read it this morning?

dunno if anybody else has noticed this, but have you watched (closely) almost any movie made lately? - esp 'action' movies - esp those aimed at 'Gen V' (the vidgame generation) - it wont be long now, before even the celebrity universe will find themselves 'disintermediated' by silicon

and THEN maybe things will start to get stirred up, when the hollywierd crowd starts to get laid off

The key to winning on Jeopardy, assuming you're reasonably intelligent, is buzzing in first. I would imagine that Watson had a big edge in that department.
