Hey Folks,

Thought fellow itulipers would be interested in trying a ChromeOS pilot netbook...

An almost complete cloud computing based OS...

All that google asks for is feedback...

You get to keep the netbook...

Go to google.com/chromos and apply for it...

I applied about a month ago and got my free netbook last week.... Plan on taking it with me to Brazil, Argentina & possibly uruguay...

you do realise that 'cloud based services' means that all content you manage/create is analysed by google for targeted ads, and possibly worse depending on what Google decides to do with it in future? Their business model comes down to monetization of people's formerly private data.

Yup, i work in the tech field and have a background in SW engineering.... I know about the security concerns of giving google access... I am usually pretty paranoid when it comes to giving out info to any party.... But, i thought about it... What would i put on the cloud? ebooks, presentations, some semi-personal stuff... Nothing that could devastate me if found and for anything else (tax returns, bank account, etc); I could encrypt things that i dont want people to see and host the file on the cloud and decrypt it on my system....
