I would be worried - sightings of Black Swans landing on some minor canal east of the city of Suez.
People have no Arms, but rocks and anger can create loose bowls in people charged with keeping Law and order but who secretly support the moves.
lets see if it become "personnes sans frontières"

Let it burn.... Mubark and his ilk never stop leeching until they are kicked out on their ass... Its the same way the previous monarchy was kicked out in '52... They have sucked the population dry. Corruption is so obvious its no longer hidden and the people have essentially lost hope that any change will come..

THIS is hope and change you can believe in! Not the BS we got here I just hope it doesnt fizzle away like so many other protests...

I've mentioned the unrest in this region to several people I know. They respond with blank stares. Do Americans simply not understand anything outside of their daily lives...

Any ONE of the following will be sufficient to demonstrate proficiency:

- Gulf of Suez;
- Gulf of Oman;
- Gulf of Aqaba;
- Gulf of Aden;
- Persian Gulf.

I've seen enough death and destruction, I'll take dialog and peace instead. I think we are beyond it though...

If I have a front row seat for anything, I'd rather it be a sunrise. We all know that the people behind these "democratic" revolutions are despots too.

Anybody notice the chasm between the reaction to these democratic protests and the Iranian twitter rebellion, which had America down with a case of the vapors.

If I have a front row seat for anything, I'd rather it be a sunrise. We all know that the people behind these "democratic" revolutions are despots too.

Despots or not, it's always interesting to be someplace where history is being made, and that may be what is happening in North Africa at the moment. Only when we look back on this in the fullness of time will we know whether that was the case. Cairo is an immensely interesting place at any time...one of my absolute favourite cities...but seems even more so at the moment. It's not the possibility of "death and destruction" that attracts...it's the possibility of being at the epicentre of a generational geopolitical earthquake, and observing it first hand.

Exactly, this regime has been in place since i was born! I'm 29, a generation has known nothing but this prick and his family in office robbing the country blind via their oligarchy.... Election after election where the only choice on the ballot is Mubarak (yes/no) and he always wins with 99% of the vote; when their feeling a little tepid they will say 95% of the vote... Then he installs his son as head of the National Party, as a way to smooth him into the political space and make him the next candidate for president; essentially a way to circumvent the "monarchy" title and make it seem legit... All we know is Gido Hosni (Grandpa Hosni).... The mind only boggles at what the change could be! Anything is better than the stagnation that is in place now... Change is good; and change i can see is WAY better than change i need to "believe" in...
