Giffords was the first Jewish woman elected to Congress from Arizona, the third female ever to be elected for that state.

What a joke and your point is? Let me guess Jews can take a shot to the head? No a female from Arizona should be killed? No female Jews from Arizona should be shot in the head? Please hes a NUT leave it at that.

Isn't it great to see politicians using this to criticize "anti-government rhetoric". As if they somehow should be immune from suffering criticism for the horrible job they are doing. I am still amazed people have an ounce of faith in government. The overwhelming majority of congress is filled with nothing but parasites sucking America dry, the longer people realize this the more they will be able to drain.

The stupid actions this kid did will only expand the power of government into more areas of our life and give them more control.

I think the similarities between the two incidents are going to stop at the perps this time. From what I'm reading and seeing on TV (especially the way that the Sheriff in this case is blathering on), the Rahm Emanuel "never let a crisis go to waste" team is being called in and working overtime on this.

The attacks on free speech in the wake of this incident thus far make the reaction to the Oklahoma City bombing seem sensible.

This info was simply part of the initial press release (check the posting date & time, other postings pushed it here to the bottom) from the NY Times, added to the 'Tulip postings as additional information on an obscure Congresswomen, at least to many of us.

The majority of the public was smart enough to not want lots of things, that didn't stop them from doing it anyway despite the many different types of protests from us, the public, both individuals and groups.
Oops, I think this is the sort of "vitriol" that the goof ball sheriff in this case is talking about :P

WikiLeaks chief: Charge Palin, Huckabee with ‘incitements to kill’

The editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks called on US authorities to seek charges against high-profile Republicans Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee for "incitements to kill" by the use of "violent rhetoric" against the anti- secrecy outlet. Julian Assange's plea came in a press release Monday night in the aftermath of the Tucson murders Saturday that left 6 dead and 14 others wounded, the victims of which included Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and federal judge John Roll.

That was my take while watching the sheriff shooting off his mouth. As if government is above any criticism. I turned to my wife while the guy was still talking and said, " that sheriff is way out of line trying to make this about politics". His competitor in the next election will blast this press conference all over his ads.

So he told the military recruiter, that he has taken drugs hundreds of times and was rejected.
But he passed the FBI background check.

Either the FBI check is a joke, or he delibeately told the recruiters that info, because it wasn't his idea to appply for the military.
Maybe his parents forced him to get a job.

There has been relatively little criticism of the context of President Obama's speech last night calling for civility in the wake of the Tucson tragedy - in fact, conservative blogger Ed Morrissey called it perhaps "the finest moment of his presidency." But some are pointing to both the response of his audience and the fact that t-shirts were handed out to cast the memorial as an inappropriately political event.

T-shirts reading "Together We Thrive: Tucson & America" were handed out to attendees at the event,

For what it is worth, I asked Obama to lead and in my humble opinion, he did just that. Quiet, calm and respectful; all that was needed - delivered.
