For now, I will keep an open-mind, but I don't like explanations offerred here that require pigs to fly and zebras to be pink and space-aliens to land in Area 51. In other words, I want an economic explanation that fits all of the evidence, and I do not want "spin".

I am going through this same exercise in reasoning with the global-warming bunch. If their climate models are calibrated correctly, then why aren't sea-levels rising and flooding into San Francisco's downtown right now? A reasonable explanation must fit all of the data and easily answer all of the critical questions, and more.

When I glance at NOAA's own graph of temperatures at San Francisco Airport just this fall, I see no change in the trend. It is like watching a drunk staggering around a lamp-post. The temperature trend always reverts to the 30-year mean, just as the drunk keeps reverting back to the lamp-post.

For now, on both the anthropogenic global-warming hypothesis and on the release of the Lockarbie bomber, I will be silent and watch how the evidence is explained by others.... Next to offer an explanation of the events involving the crash of Pan Am Flight 103 will be the U.S. Senate in 2011.

And according to the Tehran bunch ( the Govn't of Iran ), the Holocaust in WWII was a hoax. We heard that at the World Islamic Conference this past year. So we have the credibility issue of those who do the explaining, i.e: malas manos. And similarly, with the climate-change modellers at NOAA, we have the faking of the temperature data to make the models predict whatever they want to predict..... But I will sit-back and watch what they post.

NOAA's own temperature data at SF Airport (or whatever airport you may want to pick) shows no change in the 30-year trend. Their graphs tell the story beautifully and nicely contradict NOAA's maps..... But convince me, otherwise.

What a classic case of diversion! Presented with testimony by a retired CIA agent and a Scottish Chief of Police that evidence was faked and that his outrage towards Libya was misplaced, Starvin' Steve starts babbling on about global warming, the San Francisco airport, the government of Iran and the Holocaust.

In another post on this thread I presented testimony from an Israeli intelligence official, Ben Menashe, that the infamous attack on the cruise ship Achille Lauro and the murder of an American Jew named Klinghofer was an Israeli "black op" rather than an act of Palestinian terror, which it was designed to appear. Ben Menashe also confirms that he assisted in Israel supplying the Islamic government of Iran with billions of dollars worth of arms.

Starvin' Steve is a Zionist and not likely to talk seriously about Israeli atrocities or the sometimes covert, sometimes open collaboration between the U.S. and Israeli governments and radical Islam, including the government of Iran. I mentioned these in a post on another thread. (You may want to check out "Inventing the Enemy" at newdemocracyworld.org). But for all of us who want to understand what's going on in the world, these are issues worth serious consideration, not obfuscation.

Dave, I am not a Zionist, and I can assure you that I dislike all religious states. I even have contempt for all religions and all faith, especially after 9/11/2001.

My view is that Isreal should re-invent itself into a non-religious state, open to everyone who is persecuted for their beliefs. Religion and religious-sites in Isreal would be for tourists who bring-in tourist revenue.

If I were running Isreal, all religious zealots would be in labour camps in the Negev Desert, or they would be in mental hospitals.

Yes, Jews belong in Isreal because Isreal was their refuge after WWII. But also non-Jews belong in Isreal. I envision Isreal to be a place for anyone who wants to live there because that is the way to peace and prosperity. (I like pragmatic solutions to difficult problems. )

This is getting off-topic, and would be suitable for its own thread.

Don't forget that enabler of the NWO, The Village Voice.

American journalist Craig Unger, writing in The Village Voice in 1992, said of Ben-Menashe:
Ari has put five or six dozen journalists from all over the world through roughly the same paces. His seduction begins with a display of his mastery of the trade craft of the legendary Israeli intelligence services. A roll of quarters handy for furtive phone calls, he navigates the back channels that tie the spooks at Langley to their counterparts in Tel Aviv. His astute analysis and mind-boggling revelations can stir even the most jaded old hand of the Middle East ... Listen to him, trust him, print his story verbatim — then sit round and watch your career go up in flames.[8]
Seriously some of you want to believe anything so much it clouds your thinking process.

Since civilization began, until perhaps World War II, there was never discussion of "rights" without any commensurate discussion of duty. Only lunatics would have suggested society existed to let people do whatever they hell the felt like doing. It was obvious for thousands of years that such a society would rapidly collapse due to rampant decadence and depravity - that is precisely what has happened.

Socialism, Capitalism, Communism and Libertarian all fail because they fundamentally believe in a materialistic and hedonistic view of human nature, ethics, history, and more importantly the future. Only the most depraved are motivated by materialistic desire while the peasants simply wish to indulge in base desires as much as their masters will let them.

The question, going back to the very first philosophers is simple: How do we have wise leaders?

Materialists have believed the rabble would make the best choice. Capitalist and Communists both proclaim to represent the will of the people. The sane, today known as reactionaries, watch with amusement as more people watch Dancing with the Stars than vote in elections. They see tens of millions of peasants descend into a subspecies while they enjoy bountiful luxuries bestowed upon them by said psychopathic leaders in order to buy their votes. They note how despite a level prosperity henceforth unknown to the human race, said humans have become more like monsters than men both in spirit, in deeds, and in the sheer disgusting girth that results from their relentless gluttony.

The society of the future will be created from the rubble by those noble in spirit, just as it always has been. The psychopaths will be removed from society and the primary sources of their power and influence (i.e. usury, mass propaganda) will be eliminated. Discipline will be enforced amongst the slave strata, who only can no peace with imposed constraints.

In a world of declining resources, the riddle of the universe will once again come into the forefront. No longer will intelligent people ask "What useless crap can I buy today?". They will ask "What is the meaning of life? How do I live a satisfying life consistent with human nature and the world in which we have evolved?".
                Good post.
