  • When comedians become the only real journalists

As mentioned by EJ and others:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/27/bu...27stewart.html

    Stewart compared to Murrow.

How incredibly sad.....particularly the complete lack of questioning WHY mass media news completely fail to provide actual worthwhile news coverage beyond the weather and infotainment leaving Stewart to fill the void(sort of).

Wasn't it the court jester the only one that could safely say the truth without losing his head? Nothing really changes.

I think the court jester analogy is bang on.

That was what I said in 2006.

But I was wrong. Stewart isn't a comedian, he isn't a journalists. He is a liar. He tell people a lot of truth, but he is a liar in the core. He is a joke and he is an insider. He will be like the other "journalists". People will wake up to this fact.

can you give any example of his work that makes you come to this conclusion other than your own personal opinion?

"Mystical ecstasy and laughter are the two great delights of living, and saints and clowns their purveyors, the only two categories of human beings who can be relied on to tell the truth; hence, steeples and gargoyles side by side on the great cathedrals."
            Malcolm Muggeridge
