  • Gridlock!

EJ, FRED, we need another new board game from iTulip, like OLIGOPOLY, to keep us busy during our idle moments (perhaps unemployed).

    I suggest GRIDLOCK!

Evidence for this topical subject abounds in today's news:

House Democrats Voice Opposition to Tax-Cut Deal In a closed-door caucus meeting, House Democrats voted to reject the tax cut deal “as currently written.”
Republicans Block Aid for 9/11 Workers
Senate Republicans raised concerns about how to pay for the bill. Above, Senators Kirsten E. Gillibrand and Charles E. Schumer after the bill failed to advance.
‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ Repeal Falls Short in Senate
A military spending bill that included a repeal of the policy banning gays from serving openly was blocked by the failure of a procedural motion to get the needed 60 yes votes.
You can have this idea for free, it's on me!

Great idea! Something to tuck under the tree for the family, to be played on bleak winter evenings when even reality TV seems unable to entertain...

I see no reason it could not gain an international following:

Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, has called for calm in the European Union after an angry attack by Jean-Claude Juncker, prime minister of Luxembourg, who accused Berlin of being “un-European” and “a bit simple” in making some areas “taboo” in EU negotiations...

...Mr Juncker’s outburst, in an interview with Die Zeit, the German weekly newspaper, was the most dramatic demonstration to date of the worsening tempers within the EU.
He accused the German government of rejecting his eurobond proposal “before it had been properly studied” and was baffled by Germany’s way of “erecting taboo areas in Europe and not even considering the ideas proposed by other people”.

The charges were rejected by Steffen Seibert, the German government spokesman, who said “the markets are taking due note of this disunity”...
