    Doosan of Korea buying Bobcat from Ingersoll-Rand

    SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Doosan Infracore Co. Ltd. of South Korea is buying Ingersoll-Rand Co. Ltd.'s the Bobcat construction-vehicle business for $4.9 billion, the companies said Monday.

    The Ingersoll deal represents one of the largest foreign purchases by a South Korean company as well as a higher-than-expected price for Bobcat, which some analysts had predicted would fetch around $3 billion...

    Ingersoll said it would sell or spin off the business after weak financial results tied to the housing downturn and intends to use the proceeds for share buybacks, the Journal said.
    Tata of India considering buying Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford

    SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Tata Motors Ltd., India's biggest car marker, has reportedly asked Ford Motor Co. to let it take a look at its books for Jaguar and Land Rover, two companies Ford has put up for sale.

    A report Sunday in the online edition of the Hindustan Times says Tata could launch due-diligence of Jaguar and Land Rover within the next few days and that senior executives, joined by investment bankers, are in place to begin the process.

    It seems to me if a foreign corporation is paying such a premium in price, then it is totally losing its advantage of having an appreciated currency.
