Re: Is today the beginning of the end?
I hope they are short duration treasuries. I have a stable value fund where all of my IRA money is parked. In 2008 I was very nervous. stable values work by wrapping an insurance policy / interest rate derivative around a bunch of dodgey bonds. works
as long as the insurance company is solvent.
On 12/13, IEF (10yr t's) had the same technical signal as TLT I mentioned on 12/1. Can you take out a loan against your IRA?
I am thinking the same thing. I have not looked into what rate of interest I will be forced to pay. I have a lot of money trapped in that thing. If I get laid off it will be the small silver lining
in an otherwise dark cloud.
I also think you are making the right call by being in the t's compared to everything else in your 401k. If you compare 1 / shiller PE, with the rates on 10yr t's you will see problems (poor stock performance) once rates on t's are greater than the shiller p/e. Currently shiller PE is closing on 24. 1/24 = 4.2% ten yr. t is 3.5%? getting close. You can see shiller p/e's
on Robert Shiller's web site at yale university.
