It's the lie that's been taught as a truth that CO2 is a significant greenhouse gas on earth rather than a trace gas with little effect on solar absorption or infrared reflection. It's like the lie that the Volt is environmentally friendly.

Hmm, I don't think cap and trade will work either, but that doesn't have anything to do with whether it is a good idea to pump a huge amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Let's try to remove the emotional aspects from the argument like this.

Suppose we already had complete renewables so the entire world operated with unlimited energy without burning fossil fuels of any kind.

Suppose I had all the oil and coal in the world.

Suppose I burned them for no reason, just because I had them and just because I felt like it, so I pumped vast amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere to levels not experienced on Earth in millions of years.

I would be nuked.

I don't like it therefore it is not true is no way to go about evaluating ideas.

While I think it's debatable whether or not it is a significant greenhouse gas, particularly when compared with say, water vapor, it isn't a trace gas. It's certainly significant enough that pretty much all the carbon that makes up trees comes from CO2 in the air. In fact, that is the one intelligent thing said about deforestation that's true. Fewer trees means more CO2 in the atmosphere. Cap and trade is completely insignificant in comparison with reducing the human population by say 75% and allowing forests to regrow. If there is more CO2, it isn't because of internal combustion engines. It's because there are too many people on this planet.

You still refuse to consider that the headline AGW 'consensus' continues to erode.

While I do believe humans have an impact on climate, every single part of the AGW-CO2-Catastrophe thesis has massive contradictions which only continue to build.

But then it isn't so easy to tax land converted from rural to urban, or to not irrigate/build dams/pipe water into California, or to patiently and intelligently build up a subsidy neutral yet price competitive alternative energy system.

So I take it you define a "trace gas" as one that the MSM isn't talking about in its environmental stories? Let's get real...this isn't emotion, it's simple geophysics. There is 24 times more ARGON in the atmospohere than CO2. 390 ppmv is a "trace" in my book and I AM a rocket scientist.

It is absurd to jump from that acknowledgement to killing people, and a reasonable and compasionate person can observe the fact and work towards a solution without advocating anyone be killed.
