Re: Squatters' Cast System: Who Knew?
Please remember that squatters have rights in the U.S, so if you have a bad case of squatters taking-over your McMansion, you have legal problems galore. And if they grow pot, the DEA gets your McMansion. You've just forfeited your house.
Then, tenants have rights. Spouses have rights. Children have rights. Then on top of all this, in British Columbia salmon have rights. In Canada, beavers might have rights. There might be Aboriginal rights, especially in South-western Ontario with the sovereign and first-nation of Caledonia. In San Francisco County, California, the "rare and endangered SF County field-mouse" has rights. In Louisiana, whooping-cranes have rights, as BP stock-holders found-out last spring, to their dismay. Fishermen have rights. Inn-keepers and beach property-owners have rights.... It's endless. Who might own the mineral rights to a property is another question? Then there are lien-holder's rights. There might be carpenters' liens or mechanics' liens on a property. Rights of the sovereign for back-taxes have to be considered, also rights of utility companies for access and burial of pipes..... It's endless.
And these tech-heads think they can trans-act real estate by computer? I don't think so, but what do I know?Last edited by Starving Steve; November 24, 2010, 08:44 PM.
