How did no one yell anything?
Unless people don't start standing up to this then we will continue to see it, this is borderline police state...what is next?
It makes little sense too since a bomber could easily blow himself up at a school, sporting event, festival, time square etc.
All this is psychological warfare on the American public...

TSA pat-down leaves Lansing man covered in urine, humiliated
A bladder cancer survivor traveling to Orlando, Fla., was left humiliated, upset and covered in his own urine on Nov. 7 after a TSA pat-down went awry at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, MSNBC.com reports.
New York and Orlando aren't taking the TSA scanner/pat-down controversy lying down. Instead, officials in both places are fighting back. In Orlando, the Sanford airport is reportedly planning to take advantage of a little-known clause that allows airports to opt-out of TSA protection and instead use a federally approved private screening company.
"You're going to get better service at a better price and more accountability and better customer service," a Sanford Airport Authority official told a local Orlando news outlet. The airport is moving ahead with the opt-out, and says it will take about a year to complete.
Further north, in New York, Democratic city council officials are plotting to ban the TSA's nude scanners entirely, Wired reports. No airport or other facility would be allowed to operate a backscatter scanner inside New York city limits.
"We're not opting out of screening altogether," Greenfield told Wired's Threat Level blog. "We're simply banning one type of screening that hasn't proven effective."
Greenfeld and his fellow councilmembers are hoping to spark a chain reaction that leads to other cities banning the scanners. He invited the TSA to sue the city if they didn't like the ban.

If we resist, they feel justified in amp'ing up the control, until they win.
If we are to storm the gates of the Bastille, we need to find an unguarded back door. Most folks are good; a few aren't.

But it's getting to a point where we have to accept these consequences if we want things to change

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Well well, it seems that Penn had this "don't touch my crotch" moment in 2002.

Originally posted by DToM67 View PostSince this whole mess is such a negative and upsetting thing, and getting worse right around the holidays, I was pondering various ways we could poke fun at how ridiculous the whole stupid process is. For instance:
What would happen if we decided en mass to promote "Fly in your Speedo Day" on Tuesday November 23rd?
You show up at the airport in your Speedo, thong, bikini, or similar. If you live in a cold weather state, your wearing a long coat over it. If you're fortunate enough to live in a warm weather state, you could walk-in, in just your Speedo. Either way, you carry your clothes on a hanger, and as you check in, your clothes go on the conveyor belt & get x-rayed. Once clear on the other side, you could (if you so desired) put them back on. Or, you could just stay in your Speedo and have a really interesting flight - hopefully the plane is warm. Can you imagine a beach party theme'd flight... with the appropriate beverages served, of course
Fly Naked, also came to mind, but that's far too 'Euro' for us/our laws... and besides there are some folks who, seeing them in a Speedo would already be too much
Sigh. I used to enjoy flying, until about 2001 or so...
Unfortunately there often are no reasonable alternatives to flying, which I'm sure they are well aware of. When I researched an upcoming trip to San Diego, I found that with everything considered, flying, Amtrak, and driving all cost about the same. (If I drove straight through for 18 hours then driving would be cheaper via no midway motel each way, but the main cost is gasoline.) Driving with an overnight stay is a day and half each way. Amtrak is 33 hours each way even with only an hour or two layover in LA! Flying is 3 hours plus waiting in line for a dose of cancer.
Hurry up with the high-speed trains already.Last edited by zoog; November 25, 2010, 03:38 PM.

Re: "Opt Out"
I find the whole airplane obsession bizarre. Both the terrorists and the government act as if that is the only place we are vulnerable. I say if the terrorists had any real desire to actually hurt the US, they'd start hitting the shopping malls. Impossible to protect and it would actually hurt what's left of the US economy, the "consumption economy". Of course ,why change when they are "winning" by giving our own government the ammo it needs to complete it's domination over us. The world is becoming bizarre at a faster rate than I can absorb it. Straight out of a dystopian novel. Nope, no need for hitting those soft targets, the "Terrorists" are content to let our own "protectors" do us in.
These little Gremlins "just doing their jobs" need to "opt out" at some point, lest they some day be compared to the Nazi storm troops circa 1938.
