ANDOVER, Mass. – A man was found dead in a home fire in Andover on Thursday.

It was a bizarre set of circumstances surrounding that house fire, where a bomb squad was called in. When firefighters arrived they found that 53-year-old man dead in a second floor bedroom.

The flames broke out at around 6 a.m. at the home on Sandy Brook Circle.

“We were sleeping and we heard, around 6:30 this morning, there was an awful lot of noise,” said one neighbor.

According to investigators, the fire was intentionally set, although authorities will not say what that fire was set with.

Investigators will not say if the man died because of the fire, or if something else caused his death.

Neighbors also said there was a note that was found on the front door of that home, having to do with Veteran’s Day and explosives.

“It was just a general notification. There was mention of explosives…whether that was true I don’t know…He thought it was an appropriate day because he was a veteran,” said Arthur Gale, neighbor’s father.

The home involved in the blaze was in foreclosure set to be sold at an auction next week, according to neighbors.

Officers told 7NEWS that they have been at the home in the past for domestic issues.

Investigators are now awaiting autopsy results.
