    And if he does he'll be another "one-termer".

    I don't believe their owners will allow the Repubs to make any real headway with the spending problem,
    but if they begin to cave so soon we all may need to double-up our gold holdings!

          Rand Paul will shut up and toe the Republican line. Earmarks, that was for public consumption during the campaign. The Republians have NO intention of eliminating one of the most popular means of distributing graft to their financiers. Neither do the Democrats. The proof is in the pudding. Watch what they do, not what they say!

              I'm with you, Raz. Spending problem is a lot bigger than just earmarks. Problem is, if the Republicans follow through on rhetoric to "return spending to 2008 levels" it will not be good for unemployment. So they'll probably back away from that, complaining that Dems wouldn't allow it.

              I'm predicting an omnibus appropriation in early CY11, setting spending at the President's request level, less some percentage. The Dems will accept something like that, just so that they can blame the Republicans when unemployment fails to recover, thereby preventing another Republican landslide in 2012.
