In the Hopi language, the word Koyaanisqatsi means "crazy life, life in turmoil, life out of balance, life disintegrating, a state of life that calls for another way of living"

Koyaanisqatsi - great movie which I first saw right around the time of the Challenger Disaster. The movie is not for everyone, but it has a message if one is thinking. The ending is brilliant ;)

A typical liberal vision - one that this American propaganda magazine was founded to perpetuate amongst the defeated German People.

I would say that the severity of the rhetoric, and the use of interwar period catch-words for the banking class, i.e. "clever", indicates to me this is really about Germany, not the US.

Liberal democracy is over. History is NOT over, as even the Council of Foreign Relations has come to admit. We have just opened a new chapter, and the uncertainty of where we are heading is unpalatable to those true believers of liberalism. Such is the case with all false religions - it requires such a tremendous amount of indoctrination and faith, that when it finally comes crashing down, it is painful.

The goal of Der Spiegel is to forestall a fascist revolution, but they cannot succeed at that endeavor because advocates of liberal democracy deny culture, shared values, and most importantly the spirit of a people and age. Despite the fact it has been Germans who have discovered and articulated these views, they do not see that democracy represents the autumn of a civilization, its final gasp of breath before descending into tyranny. Rather than attempt to question the obviously false assumptions of liberal democracy, i.e. that hedonism should be the dominant ethic or that all humans are equal in ability and temperament, the likes of Der Spiegel will simply continue more pieces like this. They don't see that this is what leads to a furious tyrant welcomed by the people. That's the funny thing about truth. It can and will burn through all lies in time. It cannot be suppressed forever. But the more jaded the people become with the myths of their era, the more they will welcome someone, anyone, who will challenge them and punish the purveyors of lies.

Despite fifty years of mass media propaganda that seems to have crushed the European spirit, they have largely failed as alarmist articles like this and the various oppressive speech codes outside of the US indicate. Civil War is coming, and these nitwits are terrified. And they should be. Their actions have deprived the people of anything for which to live besides consumerism and conformity in vast bureaucracies that are inherently unsustainable. They have trivialized the very social arrangements that define humanity, including marriage, family, folk, and nation. When this vast system collapses, when the television is off and the people realize their education was worthless, what will they have left? Nothing.

A people with nothing to live for has everything to die for. Soon, millions upon millions of unemployed and desperate people will ask "what is the meaning of life?". The liberal answer of "whatever you want!" will not be enough, especially for the low-IQ members of society who will be all too willing to indulge their appetites like animals.

This is a VERY high unemployment area, we pay taxes, so the EU gives those taxes to Poland to steal our jobs?

I wonder if "They" want us to rise up so they can dump their debts?

That group of "clever" yet depraved people are transitory parasites that have no ability to function in a modern state. Regardless, their numbers are few and those who hate them are many. Ultimately, it is they who are the most terrified.

My hope is that the people of the world are smarter than the fascists believe. My hope is that the people of the world will demand more democracy from government, and more transparency in government.

In America, my hope is that the people will insist that the President go to the Congress every day, and that the President will present a governing plan to the Congress every day. The Congress will discuss the Presidential Plan, and the Congress will vote on the Plan.

The very moment that the President and his/her Administration loses the confidence of the Congress, an election will be called.
The entire nation shall vote to re-new the mandate of the Administration to govern.

In other words, democracy is the best cure for the threat of fascism. Give the people of the nation the right to vote on a failing Administration. And make the President directly accountable to the Congress, day-by-day. The President will govern with a plan, or the President will lose the confidence of the Congress.

The very moment that the President and his/her Administration loses the confidence of the Congress, the government shall be dissolved. The people will be called to the polls to vote on a new President.

And anyone in government taking bribes from lobbyists will go to jail. Simple! Both the lobbyist and the person taking the bribe on the guise of "funding a re-election campaign" will be charged with a crime. Simple!

                      1) the "people" don't demand anything but cheap twinkies, KY Jelly, televised sports, and video games. Most voting citizens can't even find the capital of the country on the map and more than a few can't even read the constitution, let alone tell you what it means. Who cares what they think about anything? They are sheep, who at best can hope for a good shepherd - that is in fact what they have done.

                      2) Your plan makes no sense and doesn't seem to be substantially different than what is presently in place. This is likely because you don't understand that

                      3) democracy always descends into plutocracy. Corruption is inherent in the system because leaders are not wise, they are merely the most successful at reaching the largest number of voters.

In short, your hope is misguided. Tyranny is coming, as it always does. In time, the chaos of the degenerate masses will have to be forestalled lest everyone dies. How do we return to an aristocracy without destroying ourselves? That is the question which must answered. May the gods help us.

Serge, to the extent that your comments are observation or prediciion, I can't argue with you. As depressing as it is, you might be right. We'll see. Is there more to your comments or thoughts along these lines than observation, i.e. constructive critique, ideas for a 'better mousetrap', . . .

I've often thought it's almost impossible in the current circumstances to be cynical enough. And here's Serge sitting at the finishing line, well rested, not a bead of sweat showing as we labour up the hill, puffing furiously. Are you sure you didn't take a shortcut Serge?

SS, when I get depressed by all this I often listen to this.

There is no "shortcut" or "better mousetrap".

The underlying premise of liberal democracy is a religious notion of man that wholly contradicts reality. The liberal utopian vision simply cannot be attained.

Tyranny will happen, the question is who will be the tyrant? Is simply the way of things.

On a personal level, anti-liberal ideals will return simply out of necessity. Tribalism and culture will replace the liberal state, with all its bureaucracies that will soon fail. It is important to understand that fullfilling the liberal dream of eradicating racism, sexism, queerism and all the rest require vast apparatuses that simply will no longer exist.

In short, culture is returning. This is a natural process, and one that is essential to the human soul deeply rooted in our biology. The best we can hope for is to guide this process towards peaceful ends, and a simple way to do this is to eliminate distracting rival groups or ideals around which false tyrants can rally people. there are a couple of practical solutions.

                              1) Immigration must be halted now. Ideally, low-iq groups should be deported as the social services necessary to buy their submission will no longer exist. There need not be a race war, but particularly with revanchist hispanics, it seems to be an easy path for a dedicated tyrant.

                              2) Debt forgiveness for citizens is essential, if only to give time to people to think about things other than paying their debts. Immediate debt forgiveness will allow communities to organize in ways that serve them best, rather than serve the usurers. If things get bad enough, a false tyrant could easily rally the debt peons.

                              3) Universities must be purged of all liberal ideology. The first step towards this goal should be the closure of departments that foster Trotskyist cultural revolution, i.e. Womens' Studies, Queer Studies', African Studies' and all the rest. The elite is steadfastly liberal, almost maniacally so, and the danger of a Cultural Revolution as in China is very real. After an immediate purge, restricting the number of classes for non-technical fields is a simple way to prevent a new liberal rise. Say, you can only have 1 non-technical professor for every 10 technical professors. This will also help the economy in the future as revolutionary ideology has no economic value.

                              4) Mass media enterprises should be shut down and expropriated. It exists simply for the plutocracy to propagandize ideas that maintain their power. In a period of instability, it will only get worse. The people who are too stupid to get their news from anywhere else are a threat and should not get any news, period. People must focus on their communities, not the boob tube.

                              5) Immediate, harsh actions to reorient America to an urban/rural society must happen immediately. The military must establish order in every city so that there is no fear anywhere in the country. Redevelopment of cities must take the highest priority. A plan must be put in place to move people from the soon to be desolate exurbs to near suburbs and urban cores.

The goal for the future is not progress, but stability. There is too much hate in this country and too many people who wish to settle scores. There is a great potential for violence, and we must make every effort to make the transition to tyranny as peaceful as possible.

As for me personally, I have not had an easy life. I have never had the delusion that the future is going to be wonderful, that all my dreams will come true, and we will forever have a land of endless sunshine and free ice cream. Yet, it has hardened me to the point I have become a man who has no problem attracting beautiful women to me. I have come to find joy in the simplest of experiences whether it is reading a book, making a meal, or sipping a cheap glass of wine. I can see great beauty in the every day, which fortunately is very abundant here in New York City in our many crumbling parks and old buildings.

Life is struggle. Everything that defines humanity, particularly civilized humanity, has been born of unspeakable suffering. Overcoming is what has created man as he exists today. And so shall it always be.

For anyone reading this, now is the time to make history. You can gamble on an easy life and be sad that you won't be able to indulge in all the trivialities of modernity, or you can strive for immortality and risk everything to be remembered as someone great.
