not "bear" funds as in short the market! "bear" as in bear stearns. the article refers to the well known screwed up leveraged up subprime cdo owning funds to which bear [bear STEARNS] said it would loan 3billion but didn't. they're saying that the big pile of cdo's lost enough to wipe out the underlying capital invested in the funds.Originally posted by Tet View Post

the investors are limited partners, so they're protected from further loss. my guess is that the general partner is a special purpose corporation that can just close its doors. so the lenders are left with their collateral.Originally posted by grapejelly View PostComment
